Technical Writing

I have been a technical writer since 2013. Most of the work I've done has gone into online web courses for universities, or engineering documentation for NASA and other aeronautical programs as a contractor. I have worked with engineers to produce reports based on their findings, namely regarding studies and work done on NASA's ground systems, such as the Space Launch System (SLS), and the Underway Recovery Test 7 (URT-7) for the Orion capsule. I also assisted in working documentation for missions such as Crew Demo-1 and Crew Demo-2 for SpaceX, as well as the launch of the Perseverance rover to Mars.

Most of that work is not available to the public, but I am happy to answer questions and provide references as needed.

Below you will find a sample of work I've done in the past that is available to the public.

Discord Study Group - Writing Strong Middles and Ends in Fiction

Read About the Development

I decided to build my own writing workshop. Together with a volunteer in a writing-based Discord community called Bookdun, we wrote our curriculum focused on writing strong middles and ends in fiction, using The Great Courses: Writing Great Fiction video course, along with the Writing Excuses podcast as our SMEs. I then implemented the study within the Discord group.

Fantasy Books and Stories About the Munikin

Synchronicity

Novel
Genre: Science-fantasy
Four human-like races, the munikin, have hidden themselves from humans for thousands of years. One day their magic breaks, their concealment spells fail, and they can't hide anymore. Synchronicity begins a generation later, in an alternate near-future Earth, while humans and munikin are still trying to figure out their new equilibrium.

Short Stories

Apsu's Children

Apsu, Chandrii's father and creator of the munikin, left them without a word. Unfortunately, he did so without making anyone else like Chandrii. She is the only shapeshifter amongst her people, all of them descended from Apsu and given gifts unique to their race. Now, as her tribe settles into new leadership and moves past Apsu, she has to learn to find a place for herself while still trying to honor the old rules.

Sunstrider

Puabi was chosen by her people's holy shaman to write down the ways of being that her shaman intends for all munikin to follow in the future. The only problem? As soon as all the wisdom is turned into words, her shaman is leaving—for good. And they've left behind something to ensure the rules are followed... on pain of death, if required.

The Founder's Eyes

Yevon can't see the way most people can. Instead, he can see ingots—small bits of energy that power magical spells cast by his people—the only people of the munikin who can use magic. That means nothing to his father however, who will have a son to help tend his sheep or no son at all. When all his efforts to please his father fail, Yevon discovers a secret of magic that could change the entire world. But is it enough to make his father proud?
